About Webteam and One Web

Part of Corporate Communications, the Webteam is responsible for externally facing websites which are part of the www.uhi.ac.uk domain.

Our external sites have a strong recruitment focus, so we encourage content and information which is useful to and interesting for students. However, we also use the website for media, FOI and other university requirements.

As part of the One Web project, the majority of our partner college websites now follow the same approach as www.uhi.ac.uk. This approach ensures colleagues are supported and information shared. It also offers significant cost-savings allowing us to deliver enterprise level technology to the partnership.

There is a mail group which webteam use to communicate and discuss issues related to digital activity at the university - UHI Web Discussion - if you would like added to this group, please contact webteam@uhi.ac.uk

Digital expertise - training and consultancy

Webteam are available to provide training and/or consultancy across the partnership on all aspects of digital work.

This can be 1-to-1 support, presentations or training. Please get in touch with webteam@uhi.ac.uk to discuss your requirements.

Website search

Our new site search tool Funnelback has been live since February 2018 on all sites.

If you spot any particular issues, please let webteam@uhi.ac.uk know. The two main reasons for search results not being as expected are:

• content and organisation of web pages
• unusual search terms

So please bear in mind if you spot an unusual result that the root cause may well not be the search tool.

Photography

Release forms, privacy notices, commissioning photography, Image Library guidelines and general best practice.

Social media

We provide help and advice on working with social media.

Web statistics

We regularly review web statistics giving us an idea of how our websites are being used.

From 2013, we started publishing summary dashboards to give colleagues an insight into the webteam's work.

We can produce a huge array of information, right down to page-level so if you are considering new content, prioritising what to work on next or are just interested in how your content is being used, please get in touch to receive a customised report.

Translation

As part of our Gaelic Language Plan, we have have published our policy on translated content.

Course updates

Course information on the main university and partner websites is updated overnight.

The information resides and is maintained in our course database (also referred to as SITS / IPP). 

Please note that any changes to HE courses should be requested through he.course.updates@uhi.ac.uk with partners being responsible for their own FE course information.
