Creating a new Section (a new web page)
Make a new page on the website.
A Section in the Site Structure hierarchy corresponds directly to a page on the website. 'Section' or 'subsection' is used here to refer to a page.
Go to the main Site Structure and navigate to the relevant section where the new page is to be added.
Use Actions > Create section on the 'parent' section to create a 'child' section. In the case shown in the image below, a new section will be created under Governance, at the same level as Board of Management, Policies etc. The new section will be a subsection of Governance.
Naming the section
The section name is important.
In General section details, enter the Name of the section.
This section name will appear in several places on the generated site page:
- the page address (URL) - for example https://www.uhi.ac.uk/en/governance/example-section-name
- the main heading on the page
- the left hand navigation (if there is one)
In general, keep the section name as short as possible while still being meaningful.
See implications of changing a section name after it has been created.
See Section options for left navigation display.
