Dates in names
Sometimes a date in a name is essential, sometimes it should be avoided - consider the context.
Media Library documents and images
If a document is intended to be updated on an annual or other regular basis, a date shouldn't be included in the filename.
The reason for this is that an updated document can just be re-uploaded to the Media Library to replace the existing file, and all existing external links to the document will be preserved.
For example, if an original document about Course Fees is named course-fees-2017-18.pdf and this information is superceded the following year, the same filename won't be relevant. If the filename for the equivalent 2018-19 document is different, external search result links from UHI and Google (for example) will no longer be valid for a period of time.
